IVITIES OF GRIH KALYAN KENDRA
Grih Kalyan Kendra runs its activities in the Community Centres and also in the
general pool accommodation allotted by the Directorate of Estates, Ministry of Urban
Development. GKK has been running various welfare activities as under:-
Crèches/Day Care Centres for the children between the age group of 90 days to 10
years.
Nursery Schools for children in the age group of 3 to 5 years.
Crafts Centres for imparting training in tailoring, cutting and embroidery for
housewives of Central Govt. employees and others.
Health Club-cum-Fitness Centre with modern equipment.
Recreational facilities such as Indoor games and sports, Library, Multi-Gyms,
classes in Martial Arts, Yoga, Music, Dance, Fine Arts, Abacus, English Speaking
Classes, Computer Training and Theatre etc. in the Community Halls
(SamajSadans).
Community Halls (SamajSadans) allotted on hiring basis to Central Govt. Employees
and others for holding social/cultural functions such as marriages etc.
ADMINISTERING AND HIRING OUT OF 47 SAMAJ SADANS
The focal point of GKK activities are the Samaj Sadans (Community Centres) constructed
by the CPWD in Government residential colonies. Charts indicating the location of various
Samaj Sadans / Quarters and nature of activities being run by GKK are indicated at
(Annexure XXVII) and (Annexure XXVIII).
The Kendra has been administering 47SamajSadans - 30SamajSadans are located in
Delhi, 4 in Mumbai, 3 each in Bangalore and Chennai, 2 each in Nagpur and Dehradun and
1 each in Kolkata, Ghaziabad and Faridabad. Apart from running various welfare activities,
these Samaj Sadans are hired out to Central Government employees and their dependants
at subsidized rates to enable them to hold Marriage functions and other social and cultural
functions. These Samaj Sadans are also hired out to others, whenever available after
meeting the requirement of central government employees, at very reasonable rates. Hiring
out of these Sadans is an important source of revenue for the GKK and contributes in
maintenance of Samaj Sadans and running other welfare activities.
FEES FOR VARIOUS WELEFARE ACTIVITIES AND HIRING CHARGES OF SAMAJ
SADANS
i) Chart indicating fees structure of various welfare and recreational activities viz.
Crèche, Crafts, Nursery, Health Club and Badminton, is annexed at (Annexure
XXIX).
ii) Chart indicating various activities being run on fee sharing basis e.g. Martial Arts,
Yoga, Music, Dance, Fine Arts, Abacus, English Speaking Classes, Computer
Training and Theatre is annexed at (Annexure XXX).
iii) Hiring charges of various Samaj Sadans located in Delhi and Outstation are annexed
at (Annexure XXXI) and (Annexure XXXII).
