KENDRIYA BHANDAR
NEW DELHI
1. BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES OF THE ORGANISATION:
KendriyaBhandar was set up in 1963 in pursuance of a Union Cabinet decision as
a Welfare Project for the benefit of Central Government employees. Kendriya
Bhandar is a Multi-State Co-operative Society registered under Multi-State Co-
operative Societies Act. Kendriya Bhandar endeavors to serve the Central
Government employees and general public at large by providing quality goods of
daily needs at reasonable prices.
2. MEMBERSHIP AND SHARE CAPITAL:
The Central Government possesses the majority shareholding in Kendriya Bhandar
(Rs.68.18 lakhs) which is over 70% of the paid up share capital.
As on 31.03.2014, there were 90911 members holding 281208 shares of Rs.10 each
alongwith the Government of India, holding 681764 shares. During the year
2013-14 the Society raised its share capital to Rs.96.30 lakh from the earlier paid up
capital of Rs.94.81 lakh by enrollment of new members.
3. OUTLETS:
(a) Kendriya Bhandar operates a network of over one hundred twenty grocery &
consumer retail stores in NCR and other major towns of the country out of which 100
stores are located in Delhi. The details of locations of retail outlets of Kendriya
Bhandar in Delhi and other major towns is at (Annexure-XIII). The Kendriya
Bhandar retail stores are supplying good quality, lab tested Grocery, Consumer and
Stationery items. All Kendriya Bhandar godowns have been computerized and
computerized billing has been introduced in many Kendriya Bhandar retail
stores.
(b) Institutional supplies of Grocery and Consumer items :
Kendriya Bhandar also supplies Grocery & Consumer items regularly to more than
two hundred fifty organizations /Institutions in Delhi including PMO, Rashtrapati
Bhawan, Parliament House Annexe, Govt. Hospitals, Hostels, Canteens, Airlines etc.
through its Institutional Supply Unit (ISU).
(c) Supply of Office Stationery and Office equipments to Government
Departments:
Kendriya Bhandar supplies office stationery and other office equipments items to
Govt. departments at reasonable prices.
